Interictal high frequency oscillations (HFO) were first described in 1999 on brain recordings from an epilepsy rat model here at UCLA as a potential biomarker with both spatially localizing and temporally predictive characteristics. In this talk, we will review our knowledge about HFO over the last 20 years, particularly in the clinical context of epilepsy patients and their invasive and non-invasive recordings.
